This past week we dealt with a situation which is completely unacceptable in Real Estate. We had a Realtor working on the other side of a deal reach out to our Buyers directly without us present.
This isn’t the 1st time this Realtor has reached out to our Buyers or Sellers.
In Real Estate this is COMPLETELY unacceptable and against the Realtor Code of Ethics.
Under no circumstances are we as Realtors to communicate directly with another Realtor’s Buyers or Sellers. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES.
This week, this happened to us at Right Choice.
A Realtor directly contacted our Buyers and the worst part our Buyers spoke with that Realtor and did not direct the conversation to us.
It’s not their fault. It’s our fault. We did not prepare them for the possibility that the competing Realtor would contact them!
I was blown away that this is the 2nd time that this exact same Realtor pulled this same unethical practice.
What can you learn from this moving forward?
Just like on TV, where when someone gets arrested they’re told to only speak to their Lawyer!
Real Estate is much the same way. When you hire a Realtor to help you buy or sell Real Estate, do not speak to a Realtor you are not working with. Any Realtor you speak to other than the one you have hired is looking out for their Buyers/Sellers and not yours!
WARNING! Anything you say, can and will be used against you!
While working on Buying or Selling Real Estate, do not discuss your current business with anyone. Once any deal you are working on is closed, feel free to share your experiences with others.
While working on any Real Estate deal, you must have 100% trust with the Realtor you are working with and only deal with THEM directly!
