You’ll never believe what a so called friend of mine did to me with content creation.
A friend of mine got mad Joe not doing a piece of content with him.
I frequently get requests to do content including podcasts, collaborations, guest reviewers for food reviews, and even businesses I have never even heard of wanting free promotion.
Building a brand takes tons of effort, planning and strategizing.
When my friend asked to do a piece of content with him, I suggested that he gets more established and gain more experience before we talk.
Collaborating is great! All parties can learn from each other, grow together and get in front of each other audiences. I have done collaborations. I have also been denied from collaborating with others. This is all part of the game.
My friend got upset! But we are friends! I have done so much for you! Friends donβt hold things over each other. You do something for someone, it is because you want to not because you expect something in return.
Building a brand is tough. It takes tons of work and most fail. Why? Because they stop, or fall into pitfalls along the way and canβt recover.
This decision was NOT personal. This was a business decision and I truly hope that this friend takes my advice and we can discuss again one day in the future.
What do you think about this? How do you think personal life and business mix?
Do you think I handled this correctly?
